Teasley MS Administration

Ms. Kathie Monti - Principal

Kathie Monti

My name is Kathie Monti, and I am honored to serve the Raider Nation as the Principal of Teasley Middle School. I am originally from North Carolina where I attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. My mom taught Kindergarten for 32 years and my father was the editor of a magazine for teachers. Education was the obvious career choice for me.

During my career in education, I  taught 6th, 7th, and 8th grade English Language Arts and Reading. At the school level, I served as a Department Chair, Team Leader, and on the SACS-CASI accreditation committee. I was chosen as the Teacher of the Year for Marietta Middle School, Teacher of the Year for the Marietta City School System and a finalist for the Teacher of the Year for the state of Georgia.

After leaving the classroom, I worked for the Georgia Department of Education as the Teacher Advisor for the Race to the Top Grant helping to create policy that would positively impact student achievement. During this time period, I also worked as a trainer for the Teacher Keys Evaluation System.

I am proud to say that I found my way back to the school level and served 7 years as an Assistant Principal at E. T. Booth and now as Principal at TMS.  When I am not at school, I love hiking, playing in the dirt, and pulling for my Tarheels!

Please, do not hesitate to contact me by phone at 770-721-5420 or via email at Kathie.monti@cherokee.k12.ga.us.

Hi there.  My name is John Carter.  I am in my sixth year as an assistant principal at Teasley.  I feel like this is my home away from home, I hope this welcome will help you feel the same way.  My personal educational experience began with a Bachelor of Music from Berry College in Music Education, continued with a Master of Arts in Music Education from Piedmont College, and an Educational Specialist from Kennesaw State University in Educational Leadership.  I am currently pursuing my doctorate in Educational Administration from the University of Southern Mississippi.  Areas of particular focus in my study have been leadership philosophy, technology in education, and the intersection of euro-centric and afro-centric culture in American music.

Prior to my seven years of school leadership, I was a band director for 13 years here in Cherokee County.  My experience is primarily in middle school as both a teacher and administrator, though I spent three years teaching band and STEM music in an elementary school setting as well as a year in elementary school administration.

This place and these people create a family environment where values of hard work, kindness, and thanks drive everything we do.  I am proud to be a Raider!
