Through collaborative partnerships, we strive to empower lifelong learning that positively impacts the world around us.
Teasley Middle School opened its doors in 1986 initially serving students in grades seven and eight in the northern section of Cherokee County. The school's namesake, Marie Archer Teasley, whose family donated the land on which the original school was built, had a passion for the school, and her son Bill Teasley founded the family's plans to establish the Teasley Family Foundation to "improve student achievement." In 2013, Teasley MS moved into a new state of the art facility and began serving students in grades six, seven and eight.
Teasley MS is the only Title I middle school in the Cherokee County School District. The school currently serves 1668 sixth through eighth grade students and employs 125 certified staff members. All teachers are highly-qualified in the content area which they provide instruction. Currently, 45.49% of the student population receives federal assistance through the Free and Reduced Meal Program. Also, Teasley MS is the only middle school that has three of its five feeder elementary schools designated as Title I schools. Title I funds are used to offer a variety of educational programs and resources to meet the needs of our students that are identified as at-risk. Sixteen percent of the school population are students with disabilities and seven percent are on a 504 plan. Pyramid of Intervention (POINT) plans have been developed for 19% of the student population as they are on Tiers 2 and 3 indicating the need for specialized instructional interventions. Sixteen percent of Teasley MS’s students are in the English as Second or Other Language (ESOL) program.
